Harvest Workers
W. B Daw and Son is a large family farming business producing potatoes and cereals as well as livestock based in the West Midlands. We are looking for harvest staff to join our full-time team for Harvest, starting from June/July and running until either the end of the cereal harvest or the end of the potato harvest at the beginning of November. We cover 2,400 acres of combinable crops, growing wheat, oats, oilseed rape, barley and beans and grow 500 acres of potatoes for the processing market.
As well as arable we have a suckler beef enterprise, breeding ewes and bed and breakfast pigs. A biomass plant running on straw provides heat for 4 grain driers. The business operates from 2 main sites with accommodation available in between. Modern John Deere and Fendt tractors are used on the farm with JCB telehandlers and potatoes are harvested with a 4-row self-propelled.
We are looking for hard working, enthusiastic candidates who are willing to get involved and see the harvest through. Work includes irrigation, grain and potato carting, bale carting, loader work, cultivations and rolling as well as general yard work on wet days.
Experience with 150+hp tractors and 16t trailers is an advantage along with a Telehandler certificate, however training can be provided. Above all enthusiasm, dedication and a willingness to work long hours are paramount. Accommodation can be provided and is usually a shared farmhouse with other members of the team. Breakfast is provided on early mornings and dinners for late nights along with a good hourly pay rate. There may be potential for a full-time position over the winter months as well.
